Lina Medina: Dehumanizing in the name of science

This article, which explains that, under certain conditions, it is possible for a child to get pregnant, talks about the case of Lina Medina, a girl who gave birth when she was seven years old. In fact, it is believed that she began menstruating when she was only an eight-month-old baby.

It’s incredible how certain biological errors in our body can change something so much, making us capable of unimaginable things.

On the other hand, I think the whole study is very contentious. It’s obvious that Lina was pregnant because she was raped, and the author of the article does not give any weight to the horrible thing that is. That’s why I think this study, and all the repercussions it has, disrespects Lina and violates her dignity and her privacy. 

In conclusion, this case demonstrates that sometimes, in the world of science, there is no ethics or morals. And scientists are willing to let a seven-year-old raped girl give birth and talk about it as a miracle, and do it “in the name of science”.
